Mon Apr 11, 2022 - 7:30pm GMT+0000

Richmond,United States – March 30, 2022

Motley’s Richmond Auto Auction, the leading wholesale and public auto auction in the state, will host its third East Coast Classic Car Auction beginning at noon on April 15 at its facilities here.

With less than a month from what has become a much-anticipated event for automotive enthusiasts, there are dozens of consigned classic American muscle cars, highly collectible antiques, and jaw-dropping exotics.

Highlighting the excitement last year, a 2006 Fort GT Heritage Edition garnered tremendous attention and sold for an amazing $552,960.

“We had tremendous action on American classics like ’70s Chevy Chevelles and Novas and exotics like a 1960 Austin-Healy,” said Wyatt Carter, auction General Manager. “A 2021 Jeep Gladiator Overland sold for $81,000.

Some of the vehicles already consigned for this sale include: 1981 Chevrolet Camaro; 1955 Ford F100; 1968 International IH 1200 Series; a 1972 Ford Mustang; and dozens more.

The highly respected Hagerty Bull Market List said interest in the classic car market has risen dramatically, and has resulted in higher values. This points to even greater interest for this year’s sale.

Carter noted collectors and dealers from across the Mid-Atlantic Region now look forward to this event as one of the best in the region.

The auction is located conveniently off Interstate 95, roughly five minutes south of downtown Richmond and Interstate 64. The classic car sale begins at noon, and will end when all consigned vehicles are run. A 30,000 square foot tent will be erected to host the event. A red carpet, in-lane VIP area, and guests will be treated to a variety of food trucks, complete with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

Motley’s Richmond Auto Auction launched the East Coast Classic Car Auction in the Spring of 2021 and held a second event in the Fall

“Despite COVID-19 concerns last year, we had tremendous interest and participation,” Carter said. “Each sale had nearly 200 vehicles featured, and we had 700 registered buyers.”

Carter said it’s because of the hard work of leadership and staff at the auction that has resulted in the East Coast Classic Car Auction getting so much attention from so many in such a short time.

“We also have a strong partnership with the Central Virginia Shriners and make donations to the organization. In exchange, they provide volunteers who help with tent set-up and driving vehicles on sale day.”
