Tristan Duplichain, Photo Entrepreneur started from the bottom working side jobs at age 15 as she networked on the side and built her way up to a successful full time photo career by age 27. A Portrait and Editorial Photographer based out of Jackson Mississippi.

Jackson, United States – May 10, 2020 /MarketersMedia/

Growing up in the small town of Jackson, Mississippi, Tristan began taking photos when she was 15 years old. Working full time at an ice cream shop, she bought her first professional camera at 16. Tristan always enjoyed editing photos and designing websites; however, she realized she didn’t like being confined to a computer all day. After graduating high school at 17, Tristan wasn’t sure she wanted to continue her education in the design industry and even considered going to school to become a vet.

After winning several photo contests in high school, she realized her love for taking portraits of people and decided to pursue her passion for taking photos. She attended Antonelli College where she received a degree for Photography and Graphic Design. A month before her 19th birthday, she graduated college and lost her job managing the ice cream shop at the same time due to them closing shop.

This was a blessing in disguise as it gave her more time to devote and focus on taking photos.

Being young and only taking one business class in college, Tristan would go to bookstores and grab marketing materials and teach herself how to run a business with no help. She would learn how to market on Facebook, Instagram, how to start a blog, how to design a website, pay taxes, start an LLC, and much more just by reading or watching YouTube videos on the questions she had. The only income Tristan Duplichain had to start her business was the money she made from waiting tables.

She added, “It wasn’t glamorous, but it was what I had to work with at the time.” She would take side jobs, free photo-work, and anything else she was able to photograph she would to get her name out in front of people.

“Starting in photography, my main focus was to photograph bands and musicians. I wanted to tour with them. However, the more I got into taking photos, I felt like there wasn’t much income in it and you had to know ‘somebody’ to land those type of jobs. I never saw myself being a wedding photographer. Once I started taking wedding pictures, it was another route that took off for me and I went with it.

A huge income source for a photographer is whether you shoot weddings or not in your free time. After going to college I really enjoyed fashion, it took me back to playing with Barbie dolls. Getting to dress up and style the model the way I wanted to was so much fun for me! Seeing my fashion photos in magazines really gives me satisfaction and those tend to be my proudest photos. Through word of mouth, I’ve gained a lot of great opportunities for clothing companies, businesses, and firm projects I wouldn’t have been able to get otherwise.”

Fast forward 11 years later. Tristan is a one-woman show. She designs her website, business cards, T-shirts, and all marketing material on her own.

She even records behind-the-scenes videos for her YouTube channel using a GoPro when she doesn’t have an assistant at hand.

She networks with companies and magazines she wishes to work with and has created her company from the ground up with little to no help other than word of mouth publicity.

Since the birth of her son back in 2018, Tristan has been more focused on growing her brand and traveling for photo work.
She wants to show her son that anything is possible and you can make it to the top even when coming from nothing.
Tristan has shot covers for numerous magazines, musicians, businesses, clients of all genres, and even had her photo on the recent documentary “The house in between.”

Never would she have imagined her art would take her to so many new locations around the country to meet so many amazing people.

Tristan has begun sharing her expertise via online training sessions to help upcoming photographers on how to run a successful photography business.

She sells Lightroom presets, explains consistency, and how to start a business with little to no money starting out.
Tristan is currently working on growing her YouTube presence so that she can network with other entrepreneurs and gain clients to photograph around the world.
